WK4 MDC Jump Start

When creating a new project for a company you want to make sure you have all the information needed to create the best site and designs. One of the first steps you would need to do in order to assure your projects outcome will be great is to ask questions. Asking questions will get you answers and ideas from the company you can use in your project. With out researching the company and their competitors it can easily stop your project from being successful. Sue Jenkins mentions in her lecture that if you know the company's competition and know what is and isn't working for that company you already have a jump start on your project and how to lay everything out to assure it works for you. She also mentions in her lecture key points you should look at when going to a competitors website.

Color theory works wonders on websites. Would you be interested in websites of the same nature that all had the same colors and general layout? I don't think I would be very interested, I would end up looking for something more original that you can tell the creator spent a good amount of time working on. When choosing colors for a website you want to chose colors that will grab the viewers attention. When sites have a lot of the same colors it tends to bore the person looking at the site. Most people are looking for something that will catch their eye and show creativity in the different colors and layouts on the website. Although many don't think this is an important factor in creating a website, it really is.

When asking questions for a project it is hard to narrow down the list of questions you may have to ask. When I work on projects I make a list of questions I have then I go through the list and pick out which questions I think will help me create an original creative project for the company. Another important factor when asking questions is to know what your goals are for the project. It is best to sit down and create a project plan for the project you are working on and make a list of goals. Always know your target audience as well, this is a very important step to creating a website or any project for that matter. Knowing who your audience will be helps you to put together a project that will catch the eye of this audience.

I really learned a lot from the lecture Sue Jenkins gave and I will defiantly be using her lecture to help with any future projects or websites I will be working on.

WK4 Peer Feedback

Below is the link to Melanie's video from WK3.

Melanie WK3 Digital Story

Hello Melanie and Readers,

I really enjoyed the video that Melanie created. I thought everything went well together and flowed good. I like how she put music to play in the background of her voice over. I can relate to Melanie by wanting to further my education and getting more experience because like Melanie I have been turned down from many jobs for lack of experience. If I could suggest something I would say maybe you should try to take more photos that you took personally to go with your work so it shows more of what you want and not just what you can find on Flickr. I had a hard time finding photos on Flickr for my assignment and chose to take clip art from PowerPoint along with photos I took myself which made my project a little easier to put together. Another thing I would like to suggest is to expand your story some you could’ve explained a little more why you chose to work in media. Was it something you have done before and really enjoyed? Or was it because the job market in media is a big demand? I agree with Melanie when she says she will not give up if she doesn’t land the first job she applies for after graduating. I believe if you can acquire an interning position whether it be paid or unpaid while you’re in school at Full Sail University it will help you gain some experience so when the time comes you have some experience in the field you’re trying to obtain a position in. All in all I thought your story and video were great you did wonderful putting everything together and choosing a jingle to accompany your voice over.  I wish Melanie the best of luck on her journey at Full Sail University and in the workforce upon graduating.

Sincerely,

Mandee Rodriguez

WK3 Project: Digital Story

Hello Readers,

This is my WK3 Project: Digital Story, enjoy! While creating my Digital Story I used Garage Band, PowerPoint, Word, iPhoto and iMovie to create my story. I used Word to revise my story. Next, I used PowerPoint to add my photos from iPhoto to the different slides I was going to use. I recorded my voice over in Garage Band and exported it to iMovie. Then I went to YouTube and uploaded my video to be placed into my blog on blogger.com.

Thank you,

Mandee Rodriguez

WK2 Project: Storyboard

Hello Readers,

Here is a link to my Keynote Presentation of  WK2 Project: Storyboard. Enjoy!

For my WK2 Project I used PowerPoint to create my slide show. I opened Microsoft Word to get my story I had created in week 1. Then, I used the clip art located within PowerPoint to create my pictures as well as photos that were given to me in my Digital Literacy class of Full Sail. Once I completed my slide show I uploaded it to Slideboom and then posted to my blog on blogger.com.

Sincerely,
Mandee Rodriguez

WK2 Exploration: Visual Communication

I chose to use Social over Media and Strategy because Social Media is the number one way to get your ideas, business information, and projects out there for the world to see. I chose Facebook because it is a social media site I use daily. I often see my friends sharing different information and products from other companies on Facebook that could be a great way to get your business booming. The other social media site I chose is Twitter. Twitter is a great way to meet new followers daily and is a great way to reach out to people when sharing information on a product and or service your company may be offering. I chose Instagram because it is a great site for adding photos and sharing them with others. Instagram also has filters you can use to adjust the photos to make them how you would like with out having to use Photoshop which can be great when you’re on the go and need to touch something up from your phone and get it out there A.S.A.P. The last social media site I chose is Pinterest not only is Pinterest one of my favorite apps it is a great way to spread information and pins about what you have going on with others. Pinterest is also used for help with buying decisions. Not only is Pinterest used for spreading information it is also used to announce weddings, baby announcements, recipes, and much more.

WK1 Project: Industry Blogs

I chose to follow several different blogs.  I chose to follow the Full Sail University Blog because it provides information about what is going on in the school and offers great information such as career tips and industry news. The Full Sail Blog also shows the success of graduates and features some of their work on the blog that makes it more exciting.

The second blog I chose to follow is the Facebook Blog because it offers information about what is going on in the social media world that is a valuable tool to my career and degree program. Being up to date with the new apps and updates available for Facebook can help with my success in social media advertising and promoting.

The third blog I chose to follow is ProBlogger Blog Tips. I chose to follow this blog because it gives you tips and helpful information on how to keep your blog fresh and exciting. It also provides information on how to make a successful blog.

WK1 Project: My MCBS Story

Hello,

I started the MCBS Program I worked hard to achieve my G.E.D. I was nervous about taking the G.E.D. because it was the second time I was taking it. I studied hard for 6 months while being involved with an admissions rep that supported me along the way and retook the parts I needed to obtain my G.E.D. and I passed with flying colors. I had always thought I wanted to go to school for Web Design and Development. After doing some research on the Full Sail website I found myself to be more interested in the Media Communications Bachelors Degree program because it had journalism and some web design. But then I saw that Full Sail offered the MCBS program which both fit my needs of wanting to be a writer and working with Web Design. Because of that I changed my mind on wanting to go to school for Web Design and Development. I am very happy with my choice of degree program, as each new class starts the more excited I get to learn the new tools available to me. Because of that I am now in my 5th month of classes for the MCBS program and couldn’t be happier with my choice of degree program. So far I have passed all my classes with A’s and I have a 4.00 GPA. Because of that I am learning many new and exciting tools I can use in my career after Full Sail University which will help me be successful in the work industry. Until finally I knew what I wanted to do with my professional life and I was on my way to achieving it. I have met so many new people since I have began my journey at Full Sail and have a lot of support from my family and fellow students. And ever since I decided to pursue my passion for media I feel like I moving closer and closer to achieving my goals in life as each class passes. I love learning and I have had a wonderful time learning all the new and exciting things I didn’t know about before beginning my journey at Full Sail University.

While crafting my first post for my new MCBS Blog I used Microsoft word to type the post to assure there weren’t any spelling or grammar issues. Then, I copied and pasted it into the Blogger site. I obtained my photo from my iPhoto library on my MacBook Pro.

Sincerely,
Mandee Rodriguez
